Examining Body: Edexcel

Content Summary

Students follow the Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Mathematics course. This is assessed through three equally-weighted, written examination papers at either Foundation tier or Higher tier. Paper 1 is the only non-calculator paper. Each of the three examination papers at both tiers will be out of 80 marks with a duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. Questions are targeted at grades 5–1 at Foundation tier and at grades 9–4 at Higher tier.

The curriculum will cover:

  • Number
  • Algebra
  • Ratio, Proportion and Rates of Change
  • Geometry and Measure
  • Probability and Statistics

This content is delivered through five hours of lesson time every week, alongside directed private study tasks.

What Can I Expect In Lessons?

You can expect to:

  • Take an active part in lessons and group work
  • Spend more time on homework and using it to improve your learning
  • Use your lesson time constructively and complete assigned tasks on time
