Assistant Headteacher: Student Experience and Personal Development

Where did you go to university/ college and what did you study?

I studied my BSc and MSc in Biology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

I followed these degrees by completing a PhD in Fish Physiology. The research was carried out in three different institutions: Algarve University, Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS, UK) and at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Why did you want to be a Biologist?

I cannot conceive any other career than a career in Biology. It helps us to understand how our bodies work, why there are such a variety of organisms on our planet and how they  interact with each other. Learning about nature has always made me want to keep learning more.

What do you like about UTCN and your job?

Teaching is one of the hardest and most rewarding things I have ever done. I genuinely love to teach, having the opportunity to enthuse in students the love for learning is a privilege. I feel incredibly fortunate for being able to pass my knowledge to the future generations. They will be the ones who come with the answers to make this planet livable and safe.

UTCN captured me since I walked in 5 years ago. Our students have an environment where they can learn and develop those employability skills that will set them apart from other students. UTCN is about getting the best grades, the best industry experience and the best skills to progress to desired destination.

What do you do to relax? What are your interests?

I love traveling, going for walks on the beach, swimming (I swim in the North Sea as much as I can), reading, crochet and having friends and family around.
