Norwich City face local rivals Ipswich Town in a matter of weeks, having not tasted derby day defeat in more than a decade.

And ahead of the much-anticipated clash, a team of automatons has made sure there wasn't an early break of this undefeated streak.

Engineering students at University Technical College Norfolk have held their own East Anglian Derby using robotic footballers built by the engineering department at the University of East Anglia.

And as has been the case so many times in recent years, it was Norwich City that came out on top, claiming a 2-1 victory in the contest.

UEA senior lab technician Peter Hemmins, who built the robots, said: "We thought introducing a bit of local rivalry might draw the students - and we were right."

UTCN headteacher Emma Palik said: "The football robots were a huge hit and were a great way to get students engaged - we are all glad Norwich won."
