What did you like about UTCN?

I've been to many schools and I've been to many places of work, and UTCN is the best of both! The level of teaching is excellent with ease of access to all areas of the building, it was very relaxed and the teachers possessed a similar humour to our own. Additionally, they were proactive in helping us develop our work skills. The work experience opportunities and groups, couldn't have prepared us better for our working careers.

Why did you apply for your role?

I applied for my current position in hopes of looking to better my understanding of backend development (i.e. everything you can't see on a website).

What do you do in your role?

I'm currently learning all of their systems and working a variety of tasks. For example I've been tasked to reconfigure the output of a CID email to send to customers when a purchase has been made. In addition to this, I've been making business templates (customisable images that can work as signs, business cards etc.). I'm also undertaking two online courses in C# and .NET programming to gain a better understanding of these systems.

What advice would you give current UTCN students?

If I could give any advice to students, I would say they shouldn't give up or feel down for shortcomings...instead, see them as an opportunity to improve. If you keep working at your best and keep at it, eventually you'll be able to adapt to anything you might face. Also, don't be afraid to keep putting yourself out there!
