Aircraft Machinist Apprentice at KLM UK Engineering

Why did you want to come to UTCN?

I came to UTCN as I was very impressed with the facilities the school had and the opportunities for me to grow even with my diagnosis of Asperges Syndrome.

What did you like about UTCN?

I enjoyed learning about the different aspects of engineering during my triple engineering course and the good friends I was able to make along the way.

How did you come to be an Aircraft Machinist Apprentice at KLM UK Engineering?

I applied to be an aircraft machinist apprentice because I have a big passion for aviation and working on/making parts for aircraft was my dream job.

What do you do in your apprenticeship?

In my apprenticeship, I mostly operate the manual lathe and mill making tooling as I’m not allowed to make parts which go on aircraft just yet but I sometimes programme and run the CNC mill and lathe.

Any tips for students currently studying at UTCN?

My advice would be to keep pushing on even if you find yourself not enjoying it as much as you thought you would as the opportunities available to you at the end are completely worth it.
